Renting, as opposed to owning, has both pros and cons. You're not responsible for a mortgage, or any maintenance. But most landlords won't let you paint or make structural improvements -- and sometimes won't even allow you to hang pictures. There are creative ways, however, to put a personal stamp on a rental, and make it feel more like your own.
