What Is A Spice Kitchen?

Pinterest Wok Kitchen
If you are an avid HGTV watcher, you may have heard the term "spice kitchen" and wondered what in the world it was! One might think of all the specialty spice drawers, hidden pullouts, herb storage and other items that design firms like AK use as places to store herbs and spices in a kitchen. But a spice kitchen is way more than storage! A spice kitchn is a second kitchen, typically it is built adjacent to the main kitchen, and it is used for cooking foods with strong odors (ex: curry, kimchi, etc) Spices may be aged, roasted and fried in this space.

contained, it needs a high-volume exhaust hood over the oven and a door. Powerful vents like those by Broan, Vent-a-Hood and Cavaliere are some of the top of the line options. Further, the foods that are going to be prepared in the spice kitchen should also be stored in the spice kitchen, so there should be cabinetry, counter space and a sink.

You may hear a spice kitchen referred to as a Wok Kitchen, however the name is slowly transitioning.
